The Women's Institute (WI) have been praised for providing vaccination center staff with supplies of delicious baked goods.
The WI of Horringer and Ickworth were today recognised for their service and generosity through the national WI #ThankYouThursday scheme. Volunteers and NHS staff working in vaccination centers in Suffolk enjoyed cakes, pastries and sausage rolls.
The nomination was submitted by Suffolk county councillor Karen Soons. Karen represents Horringer and Ickworth and solicited the services of the local WI organisation. An astounding response was received and 18 volunteers offered their baking skills to provide an ample supply of tasty goods to hardworking NHS volunteers.
County councillor Karen Soons said:
"Being given homemade cake during a long and busy shift is like getting a big hug of thanks
"The community spirt supporting Suffolk’s vaccination effort is inspiring thanks to the amazing NHS staff and volunteers from every part of Suffolk.
"I trained as a vaccinator with the national programme during lockdown two and thought other people might like to help the vaccination effort in another way too. This is when I approached the WI to ask if they might like to help out."
