James is married to Jeannette and has two married sons. He spent most of his working life in the agricultural, chemical and biological industries. James has lived and worked in Suffolk for over 39 years, in two spells, and is now retired. He is known to many and has a reputation for "getting things done". In his spare time, James is a musician and church organist, and relaxes by working in a productive vegetable garden. James says it's been a privilege to be the Stour Valley Suffolk County Councillor for nearly 12 years.
James became a Councillor to influence the protection of our South Suffolk medieval villages from increasing traffic issues. He has successfully led campaigns to reduce speeding and large HGVs in our country lanes. With the large increase in off shore wind farms, James will be leading a campaign locally to protect our countryside by arguing for any additional powerlines to be placed under the sea.
James has served on the County Council Cabinet and Scrutiny Committees over the years and more recently as Chairman of the County Council. He is also at present Vice Chairman of the Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
James declares, that "YOUR PRIORITIES ARE MY PRIORITIES"
