Edward Back is sixty-eight and has lived in the Oulton Division for his entire life.
He graduated from Liverpool University in 1975 with a degree in economics and commerce and for the past twenty-five years has practiced as an accountant working from home. He has experience as a district councillor, serving as a member of Waveney District Council representing Oulton Broad for twelve years from 1979 to 1992 and Oulton for a further four years from 2015 until the formation in 2019 of East Suffolk Council, of which he is currently a member representing Oulton Broad. In his spare time, he is a keen fundraiser for LUPUS UK, having run six consecutive London Marathons since 2015 in memory of his late wife and is going for a seventh this year.
Although a life-long Conservative, he has always believed that decisions should be influenced by the best interests of the community as a whole, rather than by party political dogma. There are many local issues about which he feels strongly, including improved opportunities for young people, the regeneration of the town centre and better road links to enable the attraction of inward investment from new businesses, thereby providing enhanced employment prospects.
